本来は、ペンション・サンタエレーナ(http://www.pensionsantaelena.com/)
に泊まろうとしていたのだけど、バスターミナルで、引き込みにあい。。。
I was going to stay at the place called Pension Santa Elena

One lady talked to me and took me to a place...
サンタエレーナに行きたいというのに、
彼女がマネージャーをするＳＬＯＴＨへ連れられ。
I told her that I want go to Pension Santa Elena,
she took me to a place called which she is the manager of.
マネージャーさんの名前はジョリーだったかな？
I think her name was Jolie...
疲れていたし、マネージャーさんもいい人そうだし、
サンタエレーナと同様にドミ(相部屋)US$10とのことなので、決めたホステル。
I decided to stay at this place because she seems nice person,
and the price for the dorm(shared room and bathroom) with US$10 as well as the Santa Elena.
案内された場所は、屋根裏部屋。
She took me to an attic room.
It's one night, and should be fine with me.
シャワーもトイレもまぁまぁきれい。
ただ、シャワーのお湯の出が悪い。
Shower and toilet places are clean enough.
However, hot water was not in good condition.
シャワーを浴びるとき、最初水しか出なかった。
わざわざ服を着なおして、スタッフにお湯を出してもらったけど、
結局その後、私がシャワーを浴びている間は半分水。
When I was gonna take a shower,
I couldn't get hot water at all at first.
So I re-dressed and asked the staff how I can get hot water,
and she could get hotwater for me,
but it didn't stay hot long...
I had to take shower with half cold wather and half hot water...
キッチンもきれいだった。
Kitchen was clean.
マネージャーさんが持っていたフライヤーには、
朝食込と書いてあったけど、その説明は一切なし。
There was description that they serve breakfast on the flyer's manager had.
But she didn't talked about it at all.
朝早く出発するから、朝食の時間には間に合わないということからだろうけど、
説明の一つくらいしてほしかったなぁ。
Since I will leave too early to be in the time for breakfast in the morning,
I wanted her to talk any little thing about it...
概ね満足していたけど、最後にとほほ。。。
結局US$10のホテル代がUS$110になりました。。。
It was generally satisfied, but miserable at the end. . .
Hotel bill of US$10 is now US$110 after all. . .
すなわちUS$100を追加で払うことになってしまったが故。
Because I had to pay additionally 50,000 colon (US$100) as it is in this receipt.
私がいけなかったということもあるのだけど、ボられているという気がしてならない!
でも、なぜか、もう逆らいたくなくて、現金もないし、カード払い。。。
I did a bad thing, that is true, but I can't stop thinking the price was too much!
But somehow, I just didn't urge with them,
I didn't have cash,
I followed them and paid with credit card...
原因はというと。。。
真夜中に気分が悪くなって、トイレに駆け込もうと。。。
確かに、この日、お腹の調子があまり良くなかった。。。
The reason is...
I got really feel bad in the middle of the night, and was gonna run to the restroom. . .
Indeed, this day, my stomach condition was not very good. . .
屋根裏からは階段を下りねばならず、結局間に合わず。
階段上でもどしてしまった。。。
I had to down the stairs from the attic, I couldn't get hold of it.
I vomited from on the top of the stairs...
途中で我慢し、トイレまで駆け込んだのだけど、
やっぱりあたりを汚してしまって。
I tried to hold it on the way, and made it to the restroom,
anyways I made a big mess after all.
床とか、気付いたところは掃除したけど、壁は気付かなかった。。。
So I cleaned the place that I noticed I made mess such as floor,
but I couldn't noteced I made mess on the walls. . .
朝6時前出発だったので、
帰ってきてから話そうと思い、とりあえず出発。
It was before 6:00am I was gonna leave,
I thought it would be better to talk about it with the manager,
So, I left.
戻ってきたら、マネージャーさんが激怒している。
「何があったんだ？」って。
When I came back to the hostel, the manager got really angry.
She asked me "What happened?"

私もまだ話してなかったから、申し訳ないと思って、上記のことを話したら、
I feel bad because I didn't talk about it to her yet,
so I talked the detail above.
「掃除するのに人も雇わないといけないし、色々かかるから100ドル必要」
とのこと。すごい圧迫。
"I need US$100 for clean all, need to hire people, too"
She told me with great pressure.
「コロンで払うか、ドルで払うか、どっちにする？」と聞いてくる。
"Do you pay a colon, or pay in dollars, to which?"
She kept telling things to me.
こちらに何かを聞く余地はなし。
迫力に圧倒されて、レシートは請求したけど、そのまま鵜呑みで払うことに。。。
I couldn't asked her anything because of the pressure...
I claimed the receipt, but I paid the amount the money she asked me...
1時間後くらいに宿に戻ってみると、
壁の色がちょっと落ちているけど、掃除はほぼ完了していた。
I left the hostel about an hour and when I back,
the painting are off in some parts of the wall, but cleaning was almost completed.
きっと自分たちで掃除したのだと思う。
きっとペンキも自分たちで塗り直すんだと思う。
呆れて何も言えなかった。
きっとどんなにかかってもUS$20もしないのだと思う。
I think they cleaned it by themselves.
I think they repaint the wall by themselves also.
I couldn't say anything to them.
I just felt it must cost less than US$20 if they do all by themselves.
お金も得たからなのか、マネージャーさんもあっけらかんとしていた。
してヤラレタなぁ。。。
やっぱり悔しい気持ちが残ってしまった。
このお金、もっと別の使い道があったのだろう。
だったら、困っている人の助けになるような使い道をしたかった。。。
Maybe because the manager got money, she was looked as nothing have happened.
I had strong feeling of regretting...
I could spend this money in a better way.
I wanted to spend for helping people...
でも、とにかく、自分がまいた種。
種さえまかなかったら何もなかったのだけど。。。
But, anyway, this is the result of what I did.
If I didn't do such a thing, nothing was happened...
にしても、私ももうちょっと粘るべきだったなぁと反省。
昔に比べると、粘りがすごく弱くなってしまった。
これから長い旅先、もっと粘り強くならないとな。
But I still think that I could've negotiate with them.
Compared to the old days, my tenacity for negotiating become very weak.
This travelling will keep going, so I get to force myself to have strength m tenacity.
サンタエレーナからサンホゼへの帰りのバス。
On the way to San Jose from Santa Elena,
the bus stopped at a bus turminal.
バスターミナルのトイレにSLOTHの張り紙発見。
ドミは、US$8、10、12とある。
あぁ、あの屋根裏部屋のドミはUS$8の部屋だったのかもしれないと思った。
確信は得られないけど、ここでもちょっと残念に感じました。
I found a poster of SLOTH for advertisement on the wall of the restroom.
It says the dorm price with US$8, 10, 12.
I thought the place I stayed in the attic may be the one with US$ 8.
I cannot be sure, but I felt a little disappointing here, too.
