最初バシストに来たのはオールドマナリの滞在中。

8月27日(水)
どうしても温泉に入りたくて1時間ほど歩いてきた。
When I first came to Vashisht was when I was staying in Old Manali.
27th Augest WED
I really wanted to go to hotspring and walked about 1 hour from Old Manali.


麻の生える川沿いを北へ北へ。
Going north to the north along the river where hemps grow.

途中細道を

(後に分かったのはこれはちょっとした近道であって、車の通れる道もある)

(This is a little shortcut, it was found later that there is also a road Toreru the car) 

バシストの街というかメイン通りというか。

この通り沿いに多くのレストラン、商店、宿が並ぶ。
もちろん小道に入っていってもあるが。
This is the main street or center of the town of Vashisht.
There are restaurants, shops, accommodations and etc. along this street.
Of course there are also along path around there.

この通りの上の方、開けたところに温泉がある。
マナリ方面から来たら坂の上の右手側。
開けたこちら側には洗濯場と、男性用の風呂場がある。
靴を預けるのにお金を払わされることもあるようだが、温泉は基本的に無料。
(私は言われなかったので何も払わなかった。)
There is a hot spring in a public square in the top of this street.
In the right-hand side of the street if come from Manali direction. 
There are a laundry and a bathroom for men in the open space.
I heard some people have to pay for shoes box, but entrance for the hot spring is free.(I wasn't asked to pay for it)

この門の奥には男女分かれたれた風呂場がある。
男性は2つの場所が楽しめる。
女性はこの門の奥の一箇所のみ。
There are two bathing space for men and women in the back of this gate. 
So men can enjoy two places inside and outside of the gate.
One place only for women at the back of this gate. 

私が入ったこの日、この確か午前10時頃、たまたま人がいなくなったので、
中の様子を撮っておいた。
There are few people when I entered women's bathing space in that day at around 10:00am.
And for a few minutes there is only me there, so took a picture.

日本の温泉のようにお湯は熱め。
湯船の深さが70cm程度とちょっと深め。
いくつかの国で温泉に入ったけど、ここまで熱めのお湯は日本以外で初めてだった。
気持ちよかった。
Water is really hot like Japanese hot spring.
Depth of the water level is about 70cm, a bit high for me.
I went to hot springs in a few countries,  but so far this was the first time that the water was hot as in Japan 
Felt sooooooooo good.

ここでのお風呂はパンツは必ず着用せねばならない。
それ以外は着ていても脱いでも良いようである。
When bathing here, people must wear pants(under wear). 
Besides that, seems not a matter whether wearing or taking off other cloths.

温泉があまりにも気に入ったので、ラダック方面に行った後、
バシストに滞在するためにまた来てしまった。
2泊3日。
今日はその最終日。
この2泊3日は天気がすぐれず、肌寒かったけれど、
やっぱり来て良かった。
I loved the hot spring so much, and came back to stay in Vashisht after going to the Ladakh district,
For 3 days and 2 nights. 
Today the last day of that.
During my stay it was chilly and the weather wasn't good,
I'm glad that I came back to stay.


温泉は朝5時から夜9時まで空いてるというので、
6時半に起きて行ってみた。
すると、あの小さな風呂場に溢れるほどの現地の人がいて驚いた。
30人近くがひしめき合っていた。
外で待つのも寒いので、私もその中に混じって入ってきた。
オープン直後の5時に行ったらお湯もキレイで人も少ないのだろうかと、ちょっと気になった。
もう1日いるのであれば、きっと確認しに行ったのに。
今日は午後にここを出てリシュケシュを目指します。
Hot spring opens from 5:00am to 9:00pm.
And I went there at around 6:30am.
I expected few people there, but I was shocked when I got there,
because there were full of local people in the little bathing space.
About 30 people bathing or washing themselves or changing clothes!
Because waiting outside was cold for me, I pushed myself to join them. 
I wonder if I came right after opening time, there are less people and cleaner water or not.
If only I stayed there one more day, I could've check it out.
I alreadty got the but ticket for Haridowar for this afternoon, so I'm leaving Vashist soon.



バシスト。
ここを旅する人の98％はジャンキーではないでしょうか。
それでも、とっても平和な空気が流れています。
お酒も売っていた。
物価は、そこまで高くも、安くもなく。
安宿は150ルピー(約270円)程度からあるよう。
Vashist. 
I heard about 98% of the foreigners staying here are jankie.(mostly only hemps)
Still, very peaceful circumstance and relaxing place.
I found a liquour shop also.
Cost of living isn't so high or not so cheap.
There are cheap accomodations whose price starts from about 150 rupees(about $2.5US)

ローカルの人も親しみやすく、良かった。
特にお風呂ではローカルの人と旅人とか一緒の場所で、
同じスタイルで時間を共にします。
People living here are friendly and nice.
Local people and travelers can share and spend time together in the same style,
especially in the bathing space.


山々の緑も濃く、リラックスできる場所。
夜の山々のほうの景色は、光がポツポツと見え、日本の田舎の景色のようでした。
ここは私にとって、インドでのお気に入りの場所のひとつになりました。
Surrounded by green of the mountains and relaxing place. 
The view of the mountaing at night, it remided me the view of the countryside of Japan.
Vashisht became one of my favorite place in India.

I stayed from 25^th June to 1^st July 2014.


ポートヴィラで滞在したのはシティーロッジ。
マーケットの目の前という好立地。
かつ、まぁ値段も悪くない。
ということで宿泊を決めた宿。
相部屋にタオル貸し出しも付いていた。
I stayed at “CITY LODGE” in Port Vila.
There is the main market in front of the hotel.
And price isn't bad.
That's why I decided this place.
Dormitory room also has towel service for free.

外見はこんな感じ
Out side of the building is like this.

階段を上がると受付がある。

There is a reception upstairs.

廊下の左右にシングル、ツイン、ダブル等、部屋があり、
その一番奥に相部屋がある。
私はその相部屋に泊まりました。
There are single, twin and double rooms along the hallway,
I stayed at the dormitory in the end of the hallway.

相部屋の正面にあるダイニングルーム
簡素であるが、ここがある意味宿泊者のたまり場であった。

コンロ、冷蔵庫、簡単な調理器具はあったが、電子レンジはなかった。

There is a dining room in front of the dormitory room.
Not laxuary, but people hang out here.
There are a portable cooking stove, refrigerators and some cookwares, but not a microwave.

私の宿泊した相部屋
2段ベッドが4台。
一応部屋の中にトイレとシャワーが完備されていた。
特に居心地が悪いことはないが、夜、蚊が気になった。
This is the dormitory room I stayed.
4 bunk beds.
The room was ok, but mosquito bothered me sleeping...

掃除の様子。
毎日ではないが、数日に一回掃除をしてくれる。
頼めば毎日してくれるのかもしれないが。
(人が入れ替わる時は絶対してますよ！)
面白いのでその様子も写真におさめてみた。
This is how people clean the room.
They clean room once a few days.
They may clean it if we ask.
(Of course they clean every after people left!)
I thought it is intresting how they do it, and took pictures.

キッチンでの団欒
マネージャーのマイケルさんは本当に良くしてくれました。
Pictures of we hanged out at the dining room.
The manager called Michael was really nice to everybody.

6月23日から25日の2泊滞在。
I stayed from 23^rd June to 25^th June 2014.


バヌアツに到着してすぐに泊まった宿。
バヌアツのことを何も知らないまま、インターネットで予約。
評価が良かったから選んだが、ポートヴィラの街から離れていて、立地はあまりよくなかった。
相部屋にタオル貸し出しは付いていない。(聞くのを忘れたので恐らくではあるが。)
空港からのタクシー代が高く付く(3000バツ)ので、
1人旅で車を借りないのであれば、一泊目でここに滞在はあまりオススメできない。
周りに何もない。
街まではバスで150バツだが、その移動を考えるのであれば、街中に滞在が良いと思う。
オーナー兼マネージャーさんと思われる方は素朴ですごく親切な方だった。
This is the motel I stayed right after arriving to Vanuatu.
I didn't know anything about Vanuatu and booked this place through internet.
I chose this place because the rating wasn't bad for the price.
But location isn't good at all because far from the city center.
No towel included to the dormitory I think...didn't ask though.
I don't recommend this place for those people travelling alone and not renting a car for the first day in Vanuatu 
because it is far from the airport and taxi cost a lot(3000vatu).
There is only a small store around this place.
The bus to the city costs 150vatu, but if think of going to the city everyday and time for going to the city, it is better to stay in the city.
I think the manager is the owner, he is really nice and kind.

メイン通りというか、バス通りから細道を抜けると宿がある。
街からこの宿を目指す場合は左側にサインが見える。
このサインの裏の細道を抜けると宿がある。
There is the motel after going through this narrow street beside the main street...the bus street.
If coming from the city, you can see the sign in the left side.
Behind the sign there is the narrow street to the motel.

細道を背後にバス通りを見るとこう。

宿にはプールがある。
が、あまり暑くなかったので入ることはなかった。
There is a swimming pool in the motel.
But I didn't go in because it wasn't that hot.

メインのオフィスドアのサイン受付、待合室。
この待合室が団欒場所にもなっていそうであった。
This is the main office and there is a sign on the door.
This is for the reception and the waiting room.
I think people can hang out here, too.

私の泊まった相部屋には2段ベッドが3台。
相部屋の中に簡易キッチンとトイレシャワーが完備されている。
風通りもよく居心地は悪くなかった。
が、海が近いせいか、特に静まり返った夜は波の音が気になった。
砂浜ではなく、岩の海だからだと思う。
I stayed at the dormitory room and there are 3 bunk beds.
There are a small kitchen, a toilet and a shower inside of the room.
Good ventilation and comfortable to stay.
But the noise of the waves was bad when it is quite around here.
Because they have a rocky beach not a sandy beach close by.

部屋を出るとすぐに海が見える。
海がすぐそばというのもこの宿のセールスポイントなよう。
Outside of the room, we can see the ocean.
One of their sale's points is that they have ocean view.
